and drink, a parade, a

candidates tables, kids'
activities, and a dunk tank.

Eastern Prom Tied Up by Accident
Traffic had to be detoured away from the Eastern Promenade, with two police cars
blocking access to a large area, after an aerial lift on a flat-bed trailer being hauled by a
dump truck tipped over while trying to turn up Congress Street from the Promenade at
about 8:15 AM on September 25, 2008.
Two men were in the dump truck, neither of whom was injured. They had picked the lift up
on North Street and were making a loop to leave the neighborhood.
Due to the spillage of hydraulic fluid, the Portland Fire Department and Portland Public
Works Department were sent to the scene; State Police were also summoned.
A very large wrecker was used to get the lift upright and remove it from the ruined trailer.
Those involved in the operation were awaiting the arrival of another trailer to take the lift
